Hi Alison

Just a note to say Thank You for our great talk at Waterlooville library this morning, you are a wonderful speaker who obviously knows and loves her subject well.

You have really inspired us to finish getting everything ready for our chickens and we have decided to come up to you tomorrow, get some rubber chippings and finally select some “girls”!

Thanks again,

Vanessa & Vernon

White Stars

White Stars are £22 at point of lay. We do not have them in stock.

Beware of imitations! The term ‘White Star’ seems to be attributed to all manner of white chickens. The genuine White Star is a Dutch bred Leghorn hybrid and can lay up to 320 eggs a year. My flock of White Stars has been amazing, even laying consistently throughout the winter months.

They are the smallest of the birds I stock, a slim bird with a distinctive upright tail and a large, floppy comb. As their name implies, they are all white and they lay a beautiful white egg, almost like porcelain in appearance. You will be surprised at the size of egg a White Star can lay, especially when you look at their slim build.

White Stars can be a more nervous bird than the placid Black Rocks or Goldlines and so are not ideal as first pets. They do, however, fit happily into any size of flock, from the garden trio to a larger flock. What they lack in tame, friendliness they make up for in the provision of prolific, beautiful white eggs and are well worth keeping.

White Stars are £22 at point of lay. We do not have them in stock.
