Hi Alison,
Happy New Year!
I've been meaning to write to you since I attended the KPG&B course back in October. I really enjoyed the course and found it so beneficial. Since attending the course, I've despatched our 5 boys and prepared them in many different ways - the first couple I tried to bone, but seemed to have forgotten everything I learned on the course!! But then it all came back to me for the other three and I feel quite happy and confident preparing the birds.
Regards, Dave
Chicken Keeper Book
Chicken Keeping is a joy. You will have a constant supply of the most yummy eggs you have ever had and the fun of watching your hen’s personalities develop as they go about their day, chatting to each other whilst looking for tasty morsels in the ground. I want to encourage every one who is considering keeping a few chickens in the garden to take the plunge and go for it. You will be amazed at how friendly and tame the chickens become and how much fun they are to have around.
I originally wrote this book to accompany the Chicken Keeper courses I run, but it has now grown to a point where it has become a book in its own right and I hope it will both inspire you to order your hen house now and reassure you that you will be able to cope with all eventualities in this most rewarding of hobbies.
The book is £9.50 with free P&P or collect from Hook Farm for Alison to personalise it to you. If ordering for postage, please send a cheque, payable to Hook Farm, to Hook Farm, London Rd, Hook RG27 9EQ.
About Incubator Hire
We have an exciting incubator hire service. You can have the magic of watching chicks hatch at school, nursery or at home with our high visibility, fully automatic incubators. The day of hatching can be arranged to suit, so why not plan a birthday surprise!
Schools and Nurseries have the choice of hiring a high visibility, fully automatic incubator for the full 3 weeks with chicks set to hatch on a school day, or, for smaller children, just have the incubator the last week when the chicks are due to hatch.
We have found that the residents in care and residential homes love the experience of watching chicks hatch. It is a real community activity with residents sharing stories of keeping chickens as children as well as sharing the exciting news as the chickens struggle out of their shells.
For schools, nurseries and care homes we provide the fertile eggs and colllect the chicks when we collect the incubator, so there are no problems with having to find homes for the chicks.
Whichever hire service you choose, watching a chick hatch is pure magic!
We also have purely practical incubators for those who do not need high visibility, but need an incubator in an emergency because theirs has broken down with eggs in it, or a broody is no longer available.
Click on the hire options on the left hand side to find the right one for you.
