Testimonials

Hi Alison
Just wanted to thank you for an excellent course on Sunday.
I have learnt so much, and the chance to handle the chickens and have a go at wing clipping which can be nerve-wrecking for a first timer has instilled so much more confidence.
I can't now wait to own some chickens for myself and look forward to dealing with you again in the future.
Any aspiring chicken keeper should attend this course!
Best wishes for your ongoing success.
Please feel free to use this testimonial.
Kind Regards

Chicken Keeper Book
Chicken Keeping is a joy. You will have a constant supply of the most yummy eggs you have ever had and the fun of watching your hen’s personalities develop as they go about their day, chatting to each other whilst looking for tasty morsels in the ground. I want to encourage every one who is considering keeping a few chickens in the garden to take the plunge and go for it. You will be amazed at how friendly and tame the chickens become and how much fun they are to have around.
I originally wrote this book to accompany the Chicken Keeper courses I run, but it has now grown to a point where it has become a book in its own right and I hope it will both inspire you to order your hen house now and reassure you that you will be able to cope with all eventualities in this most rewarding of hobbies.
The book is £9.50 with free P&P or collect from Hook Farm for Alison to personalise it to you. If ordering for postage, please send a cheque, payable to Hook Farm, to Hook Farm, London Rd, Hook RG27 9EQ.

Chicken Boarding, from 75p per hen per night

We have facilities to board your chickens while you are on holiday. You bring your girls over in a box and we do the rest. We even store the box or carry cage until your return.
We provide the accomodation, layers pellets, greens and lots of care and attention!
This is a service we happily provide to make your holiday plans easier. Unfortunately we are unable to take ex-battery chickens unless they are fully feathered up.
Payment is due on collection at the end of your holiday and may be made either cash or by cheque. There is not a deposit to be paid, but if you turn into a 'no show' where we have not been advised that the booking is cancelled then any future bookings will be refused.
The cost is £1 per hen per night for up to 3 hens and 75p per hen per night for 4 or more, so three hens will cost £21 for a week for example and 4 hens will also cost £21, but 5 will be £26.25. Boarding in and out on a weekday is after 6.30pm and after 11am on weekends, so please take account of these times when booking the dates.
Contact Alison using the Contact button below to check availability and book your girls in. Book as early as possible as it does get busy in the school holidays. Please use email if possible as it is much easier for our records.
Chicken Boarding

Boarding chickens are housed together, but seperate from the other chickens in a house like this one in the picture. The cost is 75p per hen per night for 4 or more hens and £1 per hen per night for two or three hens.

2. Second hand hutch that is £45, giving a good saving on the new price of £99. It is in very good condition.
